Great people and great food. Support local businesses! I've been going to this place since I was a teenager. I'm now 32 and it is still one of my favorite places to dine. The sushi is delicious and the hibachi plates are amazing.

The sushi was good. I had the NC roll. The side salad was rather small for the price and the ginger dressing was not missed well before being put over the salad as 80% of it was just oil. Service was excellent. There is an extensive Hibachi menu but I didn't try it.

Recently dined at Kyoto in the charming Mayberry-esque town of Mt. Airy, North Carolina, and it exceeded my expectations. The restaurant offers remarkable value, with high-quality dishes at affordable prices. The menu boasts an impressive variety of fresh fish options, including red snapper, mahi-mahi, and scallops -- the only drawback is that i prefer such good selections to be baked or broiled. My choice appetizer was the crispy vegetable tempura: a crowd-pleaser, and "Tiger Teas" added a fun, youthful vibe -- as well as the Nascar paintings on the wall which were humorously out of place. Our server, a kind Indonesian gentleman, was exceptional. He took great care to ensure our orders were tailored to our preferences, making the experience feel personalized and attentive. Anyone craving Japanese fare in Mt. Airy should try it out.

We came here for a late lunch and it was wonderful. I had the hibachi steak and my son had teriyaki chicken and strawberry Ramune soda. For dessert we had the fried bananas. Our server was super nice and made sure everything was okay and our glasses stayed full. The atmosphere is nice too. It's not flashy and fancy, but it's very comfortable (which I prefer). We will be back!

Been coming here for over 8 years for take out sushi and I highly recommend eating in if you're able to. We ordered edamame, crab ragoon, and then... Fried jalapeño roll - its like a high end cream cheese jalapeño popper. Fried Spicy crab roll is perfect for those who aren't into a fishy sushi. Dragon roll is a bit pricey but absolutely worth every penny and bite! It's large, eel, salmon and crab. Must try! Boba tea was fresh and yummy, perfect to counter the spiciness of the sushi's. Will be repeat customers for a long time! Also- a very very short walk from main street if you feel like walking downtown before and after.

We can't eat fast food so Japanese is generally a safe pick for us along our travels. We found Kyoto on Google and decided it would fit the bill for lunch along our route to Fancy Gap. It was an easy location to find, reasonably clean and the food was tasty. The service was great and we were back on the road quickly.
